Rivarossi 5411 HO Great Northern 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive and Tender #3385 LN/Box

This is a Rivarossi 5411 HO Great Northern 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive and Tender #3385. The locomotive features plastic construction, a decorative smoke stack, a decorative bell, a knuckle coupler, metal side rods, metal wheels and exquisite detail. The tender features plastic construction, plastic trucks, a hook coupler, metal wheels and axles.

Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the "Mikado" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-8: Like New. This item appears to have been run sparingly, and displays overall signs of very light previous use. The original paint is in great shape, and the rest of the unit displays a like-new overall finish. This item has been out on display previously and its overall appearance could be significantly improved with a thorough dusting or a light wipe down. The instruction manual is not included.
