In one of M.T.H.'s first two extended Ready-To-Run sets, M.T.H. pairs the powerful and beautiful Railking Norfolk and Western J 4-8-4 steam locomotive with five freight cars. The J, which was designed to power heavy passenger cars over the N&W's tough, mountainous terrain, here shows its versatility doing heavy freight duty. This set adds instant credibility to any working railroad.

Operating cars never before offered in a RailKing set are offered along with a hopper car, which reflects the N&W's coal-hauling roots, a caboose, and a flat car with a load of wheel sets. This set includes a dump car with operating bay (and the ScaleTrax Operating Track Section needed to operate it) and a crane car with a manually operated boom and hook. Equipped with ScaleTrax and the Z-750 transformer, this set is perfect for the serious model railroader. Anyone who wants to add action to a layout need look no further than this comprehensive set.

Features for this set include a die-cast boiler and tender body, metal wheels and axles, constant voltage headlight, precision flywheel equipped motor, remote controlled proto-coupler and an operating ProtoSmoke system. Due to the date of manufacture, the buyer may need to replace the battery.
