MTH 30-1151-0 4-8-4 UP Northern Steam Locomotive & Tender #8444 EX/Box
This is an MTH 30-1151-0 4-8-4 FEE Northern Union Pacific Steam Locomotive and Tender from 1999. Features include a precision flywheel equipped motor, a DCRU electronic reverse by QSI, an operating proto smoke system and die-cast metal operating knuckle couplers. It has an electronic whistle, but no Protosounds.
First introduced in the early 20th century, the 4-8-4 to rail yards by storm primarily hauling coal and other forms of freight across state lines in the US and rail-ways in various other countries. While later models would improve on the 4-8-4's limitation, this locomotive still made its place in history as a pioneer of 20th century rail-road industry, and is featured in some museums today as a testament to how far the industry has truly come!
