This is an MTH 20-3056-1 O Santa Fe 2-10-4 Texas Steam Locomotive and Tender #5012 with PS2. Features for the locomotive include a die-cast metal body, precision Pittman flywheel equipped motor, constant voltage headlight, illuminated cab interior and operating ProtoSmoke, metal wheels, and front-end coupler. The tender features die-cast metal trucks, an operating knuckle coupler, and metal wheels and axles.
Introduced in 1919 by Baldwin locomotive Works in North America, the 2-10-4 would quickly find itself as a mainstay in railyards all over the world -- being commissioned in North America, South America, Europe, and Africa! The North American models were introduced for the Atchison and Topeka & Santa Fe railways initially, but would find themselves on various other railways as well. The production of these models was briefly halted during the Great Depression in the 1930s, but would see a fresh breath of life again in 1938 with steel production and locomotive manufacturing picking back up.
