Lionel X2454 Vintage O Pennsylvania Railroad Boxcar w/ Orange Door - 1946 EX

This is a Lionel x2454 Pennsylvania Boxcar from 1946. The 2454 box car was introduced in 1946. The style of this car was the backbone of Lionel's box car production from 1946 until 1953, at which time the infamous 6464 series box cars were introduced. These shorter cars are referred to as the '9 1/4" box cars'. The 2454 was always lettered with the Pennsylvania roadname. Most, however, also carried the Baby Ruth candy logo to the left of the sliding doors. The plain 2454 Pennsylvania, without the Baby Ruth logo, is a difficult car to locate. Produced briefly with painted orange doors, matching the exterior color of the box car. This version is assumed to be an early 1946 version and is a rare car and the hardest of all 2454's to locate. Features for this car include orange sliding doors, die-cast metal flying-shoe trucks, and metal wheels and axles.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent. This item shows some light scratches and spots of paint loss on the shell and chassis. This item is in overall excellent condition, free of broken trim pieces. The original box is not included. Please check the photos for a detailed look at this item. Overall condition is Excellent.
