Lionel 6457 Vintage O SP Style Illuminated Caboose with Die-Cast Smokejack VG
Here is a Lionel 6457 Vintage O SP Style Illuminated Caboose with Die-Cast Smokejack. From 1949 through 1952, this was the top-of-the line caboose. It used the cupola-type body decorated with white heat-stamped lettering, including the double-circled-L Lionel logo. It featured interior illumination with window shell and two magnetic couplers. It was trimmed with a tall smokejack, sheet-metal ladders, and frame with battery boxes and two brake wheels. The frame assembly was painted black. During 1952, the caboose was equipped with bar-end trucks, while prior to that staple-end trucks were used. Tuscan-painted cabooses also are found with die-cast smokejacks painted to match.
