Lionel 6-18026 NYC Smithsonian Dreyfuss Hudson Steam Locomotive & Tender #5450 VG/Box

This is a Lionel 18026 New York Central 4-6-4 Smithsonian Dreyfuss Hudson #5450 Steam Locomotive and Tender from 1992. This is an extremely limited edition that Lionel did not sell through its normal dealer channel. Only 500 of these were made. This locomotive has scale wheels and does not run on normal 3-rail track. This highly detailed locomotive is precisely 1:48 scale and was made of brass in Korea under the design and supervision of Fine Art Models in the U.S., who normally specialize in larger scale, really high end, scale railroad models. Features include a sleuth smoke unit, steam sounds, a bell, a whistle, scale RP-25 wheels and an electric coupler on the tender. This locomotive also includes a wooden box with Lionel logo, wooden display case.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. This engine is marked #17 out of 150. The boiler front piece along with the locomotive's front platform are loose and do not fasten properly back onto the shell. Some boiler railing is bent and partially detached on the front end of the locomotive. The grab-iron pieces at the locomotive's cab entrance are bent and partially detached. Several trim pieces on the tender are bent and slightly loose. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis.
