Lionel 2055 Vintage O 4-6-4 Hudson Steam Locomotive with 6026W Tender VG/Box
This is a Lionel 2055 Vintage O 4-6-4 Hudson Steam Locomotive with a 6026W Tender from 1953-55. The 2055 steamer was classified by Lionel as a Santa Fe-style Hudson. It‘s a mid-size steam engine and sold as an 027 gauge item. The 2055 remains a dependable and quality locomotive. With the exception of the cab number, the 2055 is the same locomotive as a 685. Those two locomotives share their boiler castings with two other Lionel locomotives, the 665 and 2065 steamers -- the difference being the boiler fronts. The 2055 steam engine was available in boxed sets or as a separate sale item. It is a common locomotive and was sold with either of two whistling tenders; the 2046W streamlined style or 6026W square or coffin style. Features include die-cast metal construction, a motor, a reverse unit, an operating headlight, an operating smoke unit, a decorative bell, metal side rods, metal wheels and nice detail. The correct matching tender is a 6026W.
Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world!
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. The locomotive did not run when tested ands is being sold As-Is. The locomotive is missing a marker jewel. A section of the locomotive's boiler railing is bent and partially loose. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. The locomotive and tender show rust throughout various sections of the chassis and trucks. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
