Lionel 2026 Vintage O Lionel Lines 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive w/6466W Tender
This is a Lionel 2026 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive and 6466W Tender from 1951-53. Its features include a die-cast boiler shell, an open-frame motor, an operating puffing smoke unit, a remote control forward-neutral-reverse e-unit, an operating headlight, a decorative bell, metal side rods, and metal wheels. The 2026 was Lionel's most popular O27 locomotive in the postwar era. Features for the tender include an operating whistle, die-cast trucks, and an operating knuckle coupler.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
