Bachmann 81701 HO Unlettered 2-10-0 Russian Decapod Steam Locomotive EX/Box
Here is a Bachmann 81701 HO Unlettered 2-10-0 Russian Decapod Steam Locomotive -DCC Ready. It features a die-cast metal chassis, plastic boiler and tender body, spoked metal drivers, metal side rods, operating knuckle couplers, directional lighting with a back-up light on the tender, decorative whistle, and a detailed cab interior with two engineer figures. It is DCC-ready but does not have a decoder installed. The engine is not lettered and can be customized with any roadname you wish.
Introduced in the late 19th century, the 2-10-0 was first unveiled in North America for the Lehigh Valley Railroad on the East Coast. The 2-10-0 notation would catch on quickly, and would soon before commissioned in rail-yards all over the world for their versatility, and powered axels making them a powerful locomotive despite drawbacks with the firebox and running at low speeds. These models would run well into the mid-20th century before eventually making their way from a running status to a preservation state. Today a handful of these “Decapods” can be found in museums!
